Charities Thank You

Third Presbyterian Church has provided unwavering and faithful support to North End Square Neighborhood Association over the years. Our newsletter would not be possible without the support of Pastor Murray Hanson and the congregation. When you see Pastor Hanson or a member of the congregation, don’t forget to thank them. We are truly indebted to them!

Notes from the Congregation

Dear Pastor,

Your station brings me so much pleasure day and night with your relaxing music. Please except my small token for your radio station and prayers.

                                                God Bless You,

                                                Joan

Third Presbyterian,

I cannot express enough the gratitude that the Spring River Girl Scout Service Unit has for all the support that the members of 3rd Pres. showed them at our pancake breakfast. We were able to raise close to $550 for our family partner fund for Camp McCormick. Our goal is to raise $850 and we are more than half way thanks to you!

To My Church Family,

How can I ever thank you for all your love, cards, prayers and visits during my recent health issue. You are all so dear to me and I am so blessed to have you all for friends and family. God bless you all!

                                                Love,

                                                Martha Gray

To My Favorite Congregation, Session and Education Committee,

No postcard or words of thanks could adequately convey my appreciation of your support during my recent trip to New York and the United Nations. I’m so blessed to have a loving church family. Your love and confidence in me is so empowering.

                                                Thanks & Peace,

                                                Abby Mohaupt

Third Presbyterian,

My sincere thanks to all of you who sent cards, called me and for prayers following my eye surgery. By the time you read this I should be driving and I’ll “see” you in church!

                                                Love,

                                                Trudy Swalve

To All My Friends at Third Presbyterian Church,

Thank you for your prayers and support. In this world of a nursing home, away from all the things you miss, like attending church, I am getting better. How I have appreciated the calls and cards – Earl and Alyce, Lu, Janet Appel and Fred & Cindy Miner. Thank you for thinking of me.

                                                Yours Sincerely,

                                                Margaret Carter

Third Presbyterian Church Family:

Thank you so much for your generous contribution of $200 to the Children’s Clothes Closet. Our year has been busy and we expect to serve over 500 children before the school year is over. It is because of the support of churches, such as yours, that we are able to continue this ministry.

From Rev. Hanson

Thank you for the extra prayers for our family in recent weeks. After hospitalization for our daughter Becky Smith over concerns her baby would be arriving too early, she has now been doing well in recent weeks, and we are anxiously waiting for the birth of a granddaughter by April 1!

After my mother’s (Betty Hanson in Minnesota) sudden loss of most of her vision in her one “good” eye, she has been receiving treatment at the Mayo Clinic, and a significant amount of her vision is returning! Thank you for your continuing prayers for Mom.

And I thank you for all of your many expressions of love and support following my January surgery for a torn rotator cuff in my left shoulder. Healing is going very well and my twice a week hourly physical therapy sessions on the shoulder will continue for several more weeks. Special thanks to Linda Cunningham for preaching for our congregation on January 10; and to my wife, Mary and to Deacon Wylda Huffman who were my drivers for the first few weeks after surgery. And thank you  to the others of you who offered to drive and were “on call” to help me keep up with visits and appointments. I am happy to tell you that my shoulder is recuperating very well!

Charities Thank You

Dear Rev. Hanson &

             Third Presbyterian Church,

Thank you for your continued support of Rockford Area Habitat for Humanity’s mission to improve the lives of low-income families. We appreciate your generous donation of $388.72 for our building program.

Our mission is to provide safe, decent, affordable housing for families in need while empowering families to help themselves. Habitat homeowners purchase their houses through no-profit, no-interest mortgages while contributing 300 hours of “sweat equity” labor building their home. They also complete 20 hours in coursework on financial management, insurance, home repair, security, and maintenance.

We completed 5 new homes in northwest Rockford 2007. These families spent their first Christmas in their new homes! Thank you for making our work possible.

Thank you for thinking of Habitat and our homeowners!

                          Sincerely,

                              Tonya Thayer

                              Executive Director,

                              Rockford Area

Notes from the Congregation

Dear Third Pres. Members,

Thank you so much for the support you continue to give me during my years at Monmouth College. I used this year’s Third Pres. scholarship to purchase text books for my fall semester. Your scholarship money is greatly appreciated! Also, it was so nice to receive a care package from the church and the squires in December. The snacks were delicious and it was nice knowing that my Third Pres. Church Family was thinking about me!

                          Thanks again!

                              Heidi Hartshorn

Dear Third Presbyterian,

Thank you for the lovely memorial service and burial prayers for Mary McCloskey.

Have a very Merry Christmas.

                                                                     Sincerely,

                                                                          Mary Nichols

Dear Third Presbyterian Church family,

Just a note of thanks for all the great “happenings” at Third Presbyterian during the Christmas season. I know how much time and energy go into the Children’s Program, the Cantata and other special services. To each one of you, it was such a blessing for me to sit back and rink it all in! Thank you!

                                                                          Trudy Swalve

To my many friends at Third Presbyterian,

My sincere thank you for all your cards, thoughts and prayers during my hospital visit. My surgery and recovery went well and all your messages meant so much. I am continually amazed at your many cards and well wishes. A special thanks to the children in Sunday School for their cards and prayers. What a blessing to have so many people who care for us all.

                                                                     Thanks again,

                                                                          Nancy Maney

Thank You from Rev. Hanson

On behalf of Mary and myself and our family, I want to express my sincere appreciation for the surprise recognition given to me at the beginning of the December 2 worship service. I was truly surprised as you recognized Mary and myself on the 30th anniversary of my beginning Pastor of Third Presbyterian Church. It meant a tremendous amount to me. I would say that it meant more to me than you can imagine! I consider it my very special privilege to serve as pastor of a most exceptional caring and loving church family. I appreciate the nice recognition certificate and Mary and I will enjoy the gift certificate to Cliffbreakers!

                                                                    Sincerely,

                                                                             Rev. Murray Hanson

Notes from the Congregation

Dear Third Pres,

I just realized that I have yet to send a thank you to everyone at the church for the scholarship money that I got for school. So, I just wanted to say thank you for the money because it really has helped me here at Monmouth! I really appreciate all the help and support that the church has shown me. Thanks again!

                          God Bless,

                              Kevin Thomas

Dear Third Pres Congregation,

Thank you for the generous scholarship money. The $700 is very helpful in paying for college. Thank you for your support throughout me college experience.

 Third Pres,

Thank you so much for contacting Anderson and arranging it so that I could receive their matching scholarship! I really appreciate everything you’ve done for me with college things the past two years!

                          Sincerely,

                              Danielle Ackerman

Dear Fellow Christians,

Our hearts were saddened to hear about the passing of Alberta Griepentrog. She was a close friend. We lived next door to each other when my dad was minister at Third Presbyterian Church in the 1930s and 1940s.

                                                                     Sincerely in Christ,

                                                                          Bob & Ellen Bonham
