Letter from the Pastor
Welcome to Third Presbyterian the
"Growing Church that Cares!"
Since being called to serve as Pastor of Third Presbyterian Church in 1977, I have always been impressed by the spirit of cooperation and friendliness of this "church family!"
I especially appreciate the people's great sense of humor and their being so highly supportive of each other, of so many community efforts, and their special support for children's and youth ministries!
We have one of the area's most active church ministries to children and youth.
We have an excellent Year-round Presbyterian Camp and Conference Center only 28 miles away ... Stronghold. For fifteen summers we sent more children and youth to summer camping programs than did any congregation!
Our high schoolers (9 - 12th graders) find many learning, service and travel opportunities through the Night Crusaders group.
Our junior high schoolers find many similar opportunities in the Squires group.
We are well blessed with a good representation of people of all ages! Our activities and gatherings reflect that ... we have quite a variety of learning and fellowship opportunities.
Here in this church family we have come together from a wide variety of church backgrounds, and some come with no previous church experience. Being open to new people and new ideas keeps this church thriving and alive.
This former "neighborhood church" now attracts members not only from Rockford, but from all of the surrounding communities!
These last three years we have been especially blessed with the addition of our 24 hour a day radio station, WTPB LP 99.3 FM! Enjoy Easy Listening Music, along with fine religious programming.
May God bless you, and our "growing church that cares!"
God Bless you,
Dr. Murray Hanson, Pastor
